Definici贸n:

Es un flujo retr贸grado (regurgitaci贸n) de sangre a trav茅s del tracto digestivo superior. 脡ste abarca el intestino delgado, el est贸mago, la boca, la garganta y el es贸fago (el tubo que lleva el alimento y las secreciones de la boca al est贸mago).

Consideraciones generales:

El v贸mito con sangre se presenta despu茅s de una hemorragia digestiva alta y es una afecci贸n que algunas veces puede ser dif铆cil de diferenciar de la tos con sangre (de los pulmones) o del sangrado nasal (drenaje retronasal sanguinolento).

Las afecciones que producen v贸mitos con sangre pueden provocar tambi茅n sangre en las heces.

Causas comunes:

Hay algunas razones por las cuales alguien puede vomitar sangre. Por ejemplo, el v贸mito que es muy vigoroso o muy prolongado puede causar un desgarro en los peque帽os vasos sangu铆neos de la garganta o el es贸fago, produciendo vetas de sangre en el v贸mito.
