Expectativas después de la cirugía:

La mayoría de las malformaciones anorrectales pueden corregirse exitosamente con cirugía y en la mayoría de los casos, los pacientes recuperan la función intestinal normal. El pronóstico a largo plazo es excelente si el paciente no tiene otros problemas pélvicos.

Convalecencia:

Es posible que el niño deba permanecer hospitalizado por varios días. El médico utilizará un instrumento para dilatar (estirar) el nuevo ano con el fin de mejorar el tono muscular y prevenir el estrechamiento; es necesario continuar esto durante varios meses. Durante toda su niñez, se recomienda el uso de ablandadores de heces y una dieta rica en fibra.
