Expectativas después de la cirugía:

Los pacientes tienden a recuperarse rápidamente después de una apendicectomía simple y la mayoría salen del hospital en 1 a 3 días después de la operación. Las actividades normales se pueden reanudar en 1 a 3 semanas después de salir del hospital.

La recuperación es más lenta y más complicada si el apéndice se ha roto o se ha formado un absceso.

El hecho de vivir sin el apéndice no causa problemas de salud conocidos.
