La dieta y la cafeína

Definición:

La cafeína es una sustancia que existe naturalmente en ciertas plantas o se produce sintéticamente y se usa como aditivo en ciertos productos alimenticios. Es igualmente diurética y estimulante del sistema nervioso central.

Funciones:

La cafeína se absorbe y distribuye muy rápidamente. Después de la absorción, pasa al cerebro.

La cafeína no se acumula en el torrente sanguíneo, ni el organismo la almacena, sino que es excretada en la orina, muchas horas después de consumida.

La cafeína no disminuye los efectos del alcohol, aunque muchas personas todavía creen que una taza de café "le devuelve la sobriedad" a una persona intoxicada.

La cafeína puede emplearse como tratamiento de las jaquecas y para aliviar, durante poco tiempo, la fatiga o la somnolencia.
