Recomendaciones:

El Centro de Nutrición y Alimentos del Instituto de Medicina (Food and Nutrition Center of the Institute of Medicine ) ha establecido los siguientes consumos recomendados en la dieta para el fluoruro:

Bebés:

  • 0 a 6 meses: 0.1 miligramos/día (mg/día)
  • 7-12 meses: 0.5 mg/día

Niños y adolescentes:

  • 1 - 3 años: 0.7 mg/día
  • 4 - 8 años: 1 mg/día
  • 9 - 13 años: 2 mg/día
  • 14 - 18 años: 3 mg/día

Adultos:

  • Hombres de 19 años en adelante: 4 mg/día
  • Mujeres de 19 años en adelante: 3 mg/día
  • Mujeres embarazadas y lactantes (que están produciendo leche): 3 mg/día
