Recomendaciones:

Ha habido un gran interés en el potencial del cromo para ayudar a las personas a perder peso y a incrementar su masa muscular magra; sin embargo, múltiples estudios realizados no han mostrado ninguno de estos efectos.

Aunque no existen cantidades dietéticas específicas recomendadas por el Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos para el consumo del cromo, de acuerdo con la Junta Reguladora de Alimentos y Nutrición (Food and NutritionBoard) del Instituto de Medicina (Institute of Medicine), la ingesta diaria de cromo adecuada y segura debe ser:

  • Niños
    • 1 a 3 años: 11 mcg
    • 4 a 8 años: 15 mcg
    • 9 a 13 años: 21 a 25 mcg
  • Adolescentes
    • varones 14 a 18 años: 35 mcg
    • mujeres 14 a 18 años: 24 mcg
  • Adultos varones
    • 19 a 50 años: 35 mcg
    • mayores de 50 años: 30 mcg
  • Mujeres adultas
    • 19 a 50 años: 25 mcg
    • mayores de 50 años: 20 mcg
    • embarazadas: 29 a 30 mcg
    • lactantes: 44 a 45 mcg
