Vitamina A - Efectos secundarios

Recomendaciones:

La mejor manera de satisfacer los requerimientos diarios de vitaminas esenciales es consumir una dieta balanceada, que contenga una variedad de productos de los grupos básicos de alimentos.

El Comité de Nutrición y Alimentos del Instituto de Medicina (Foodand Nutrition Board at the Institute of Medicine ) recomienda lo siguiente:

Bebés:

  • 0-6 meses: 400 microgramos/día (mcg/día)
  • 7 -12 meses: 500 mcg/día

Niños:

  • 1-3 años: 300 mcg/día
  • 4- 8 años: 400 mcg/día
  • 9-13 años: 600 mcg/día

Adolescentes y adultos:

  • Mujeres de 14 años en adelante: 900 mcg/día
  • Hombres de 14 años en adelante: 700 mcg/día

Las mujeres que estén en embarazo o lactando necesitan cantidades mayores. Se recomienda preguntarle al médico acerca de la mejor dosis en cada caso particular.
