Son glándulas de forma triangular ubicadas en la parte superior de los riñones.
La parte externa de la glándula suprarrenal se denomina corteza y produce hormonas esteroides como cortisol, aldosterona y testosterona. La parte interna de la glándula se denomina médula y produce epinefrina y norepinefrina, que frecuentemente se denominan adrenalina y noradrenalina.
Cuando las glándulas producen más o menos hormonas de lo que el cuerpo necesita, uno puede enfermarse.
