Definición:

Es un trastorno genético asociado con la presencia de material extra del cromosoma 18.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La trisomía 18 es un síndrome relativamente común que afecta aproximadamente a 1 de cada 3.000 nacidos vivos y es tres veces más común en las niñas que en los niños. El síndrome es causado por la presencia de un material adicional del cromosoma 18, que interfiere con el desarrollo normal.
