Es un grupo de síntomas causados por infección de un bebé no nato (feto) con el parásito toxoplasma gondii.
Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
El feto puede resultar infectado con toxoplasmosis si la madre está infectada o si tiene antecedentes de toxoplasmosis en embarazos anteriores.
Para la madre, la enfermedad suele ser leve y puede no ser evidente; sin embargo, la infección en el feto puede ocasionar problemas severos. La infección en las primeras etapas del embarazo provoca problemas más graves que la infección más tardía.
