Síndrome de Chediak-Higashi - Overview

Definición:

Es una rara enfermedad hereditaria de los sistemas inmunitario y nervioso que involucra una coloración pálida del cabello, los ojos y la piel.

Causas:

El síndrome de Chediak-Higashi se transmite de padres a hijos (hereditario). Es una enfermedad autosómica recesiva, lo cual significa que ambos padres deben aportar el gen defectuoso para que el niño muestre síntomas de la enfermedad.

Se han encontrado defectos en el gen CHS1 (también llamado LYST). El principal defecto en esta enfermedad se encuentra en ciertas sustancias normalmente presentes en las células de la piel y ciertos glóbulos blancos.
