Coágulos sanguíneos - Información general

Trombos; Coágulo; Émbolos

Definición:

Son masas que se presentan cuando la sangre se endurece pasando de líquida a sólida (se coagula). Un coágulo sanguíneo que se forma dentro de un vaso sanguíneo o dentro del corazón y permanece allí se denomina trombo.

Un trombo que viaja desde el vaso sanguíneo o el corazón hasta otro lugar en el cuerpo se llama émbolo y el trastorno se denomina embolia. Por ejemplo, un émbolo que se presenta en los pulmones se denomina embolia pulmonar.
