Torsión testicular - Información general

Torsión del testículo; Isquemia testicular

Definición:

Es la torsión del cordón espermático que interrumpe el suministro de sangre al testículo y a las estructuras circundantes en el escroto.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Algunos hombres pueden estar predispuestos a la torsión testicular como resultado del tejido conectivo inadecuado dentro del escroto. Sin embargo, la condición puede resultar de trauma al escroto, particularmente si se presenta inflamación significativa. Igualmente, es posible que ocurra después del ejercicio vigoroso o que no tenga una causa obvia.

La condición es más común durante la infancia (primer año de vida) y al comienzo de la adolescencia (pubertad).
