Acidosis metabólica - Información general

Definición:

Es una alteración del equilibrio ácido-básico del cuerpo, que ocasiona acidez excesiva en la sangre.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La acidosis metabólica se puede presentar como resultado de muchas afecciones diferentes, como la insuficiencia renal, la cetoacidosis diabética y el shock.

Igualmente, la ingestión de sustancias tóxicas como los anticongelantes o cantidades excesivas de aspirina puede llevar a que se presente esta afección.

La acidosis metabólica severa puede llevar al shock o a la muerte. En algunas situaciones, la acidosis metabólica puede ser una afección leve y crónica.
