Signos y exámenes:

El médico lleva a cabo un examen físico y hace preguntas acerca de la historia clínica de la persona. Algunas veces, el médico puede ordenar una colonoscopia o una endoscopia superior para observar directamente el revestimiento del intestino. Igualmente, se pueden tomar biopsias de las áreas sospechosas durante el procedimiento.
