Espasmos esofágicos - Información general

Espasmos esofágicos difusos; Espasmos del esófago

Definición:

Son contracciones irregulares de los músculos del esófago, el conducto que lleva el alimento desde la boca hasta el estómago. Estos espasmos no movilizan el alimento de una manera efectiva hacia este último.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La causa de los espasmos esofágicos se desconoce, sin embargo las comidas muy calientes o muy frías pueden desencadenar un episodio en algunas personas. El espasmo puede ser difícil de diferenciar de la angina y puede irradiarse al cuello, la mandíbula, los brazos o la espalda.
