Apendicitis - Información general

Definición:

Es una inflamación del apéndice, un pequeño saco que se encuentra adherido al intestino grueso.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La apendicitis es una de las causas más comunes de cirugía abdominal de emergencia en los Estados Unidos y generalmente ocurre después de una obstrucción del apéndice por heces, un cuerpo extraño o, en raras ocasiones, por un tumor.
