Absceso intrabdominal

Definición:

Un absceso intraabdominal es una cavidad infectada llena de líquido y pus dentro del área abdominal (cavidad abdominal). Puede haber más de un absceso.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Un absceso intraabdominal puede ser causados por una ruptura del apéndice, ruptura de divertículos, parasitismo intestinal (Entamoeba histolítica) u otra afección.

Entre los factores de riesgo para los abscesos intraabdominales se encuentran el hecho de tener antecedentes de apendicitis, diverticulitis, úlceras perforadas o cualquier cirugía que pueda haber infectado la cavidad abdominal.
