Your doctor will prescribe your exact dose and tell you how often it should be given. This medicine is given as a shot under your skin, into a muscle, or into a vein.
This medicine can sometimes be added to total parenteral nutrition (TPN) solutions. Make sure you understand how to open the ampule (the tube the medicine comes in) and add the medicine to your TPN liquid. Your doctor or caregiver will tell you how to use the medicine.
A nurse or other trained health professional will give you this medicine.
You may be taught how to give your medicine at home. Make sure you understand all instructions before giving yourself an injection. Do not use more medicine or use it more often than your doctor tells you to.
If you are getting the IV medicine, check the bag to make sure there are no leaks. Make sure the liquid in the bag is clear.
If a dose is missed:
This medicine needs to be given on a regular schedule. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Then go back to your usual dosing schedule.
If you miss more than one dose, call your doctor for instructions.
